GRADE: C - UPPER
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Relevant Safety Diploma (Adv.)
Blasting Ticket (Adv.)
Comsoc 1 & Comsoc 2
2 to 3 years experience in a coal mining
Good Safety Record
Valid Driver’s License
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To promote health and safety among the workforce and to control direct and advise the efforts of the Risk / Safety dept to reduce accidents and incidents and to achieve compliance philosophy of zero harm.
To ensure that all employees adhere to health and safety procedures and policy through training, coaching, inspecting and advising.
To facilitate a two - way communication between management and employees on health and safety issues in order to ensure that employees (including contractors) work safely.
To participate in investigations of accidents, incidents and occupational disease in order to contribute in finding solutions that will prevent re-occurrence.
To assist the Management in the identification of hazards and to assist in the elimination or minimization of these hazards.
To contribute to the reduction of accidents and incidents by follow up on identified health and safety concerns.
Willing to work extra hours if needed.
KNOWLEDGE:
Relevant legislation / Minerals Act / Mine Health & Safety Act/ Relevant SPIs and COPs
Good grasp of the Mine processes ( Mining , Engineering , etc)
Knowledge of DMR requirements.
